Low-tech Method of beating Padlocks

This is a stunningly easy way to open most padlocks.  Simply hold the 
padlock so that the end of the shackle that comes up out of the lock is 
to your left. Give a sturdy blow with a hammer to the right side opposite
of the "open shackle" end.  Try this a few times with Varying downward
pressure on the lock.  The sharp blow "bounces" the holding-latch away
from the holding-groove in the shackle.
