Number one - Ditch Medicine by Hugh L. Coffee. I've already got Where There Is No Doctor and the Special Forces Medical Handbook that it claims to be a "perfect companion" to. How's this book rate? My last Paladin catalog lists the book at $25 which is a bit steep to me, but if it's got something good in it I'll pay the toll for it. Does it have anything in it that would complement or supplement the Survivialist's Medicine Chest by Ragnar Benson? I'd really like to find some more extensive info on the possible use of veterinary medicines with humans. I rate this one very highly, more so than the ships medical chest. I bought a "subscription" from the GPO several years ago (the only way to buy it), and haven't received any updates. Ships medical chest is rapidly becoming outdated. Ditch medicine has some good ideas for non professionals forced into a more professional role, like how to administer nerve blocks, do surgery, etc. Number two - Ships Medicine Chest At Sea from the Government Printing Office. I've had this on my list for years, but I've never ordered it or actually seen a copy. How's it compare to the above books? I've got Forgey's Wilderness Medicine and Medicine For Mountaineering by The Mountaineers as well. Is there anything in this book that the others don't already adequately cover? Additionally, what does this one cost nowadays and specifically what address can it be ordered from? Any input from knowledgable persons will be much appreciated. Thanks. Like amputations, cleaning of wounds etc. ,Yes I would recommend it.
