DESERT WATER BAGS From: Dave Hoots Newsgroups: misc.survivalism Subject: Desert water bags & survival tins Date: Mon, 15 Jul 1996 16:42:10 -0600 Folks, Awhile back some people were interested in desert water bags and "survival tins" (akin to cigar tins). I've found a source for both: Army & Navy Surplus Store 3524 S. Broadway Englewood, CO (303) 789-1827 I have no relationship to the store, other than being a satisfied customer. The desert water bags are canvas bags, often with two grommets at the top corners, used to hang on front of jeeps (or other vehicles) while traveling through the desert. The water was kept cool through slight evaporation while traveling (air flow and all that). The store sells them for $12.00. The tins are two-piece aluminum, measuring 6.75 " x 4.25 " x 1.75 ", and goes for $3.49. It has two small handles at each end. It's akin to the British survival tins. I've found it useful for cooking (the tight-fitting top becomes a griddle, the bottom a pot). Well, that's about it. If you need more info re: this products, email me. As I said before, I have *no* connection to the store; I simply browse there from time to time. I found these, and thought that those folks who expressed an interest in these things might want to know a source. Dave Hoots hoots_dave@tandem.com
