Or will that situation recur again and > again causing more pain? You are still thinking of Hypnosis in an old fashioned traditional way it is used. Not in the manner I am describing it. I said in "positive thinking" you give the person suggestions. I did not say that using Hypnotherspy or self hypnosis, that you give your self suggestions to get rid of the painful emotions. You are assuming some things which are not done in modern Hypnotherapy or Self Hypnosis. If you read all the messages, and combine the ideas in all of them you get a clearer idea of of Hypnotherapy. Where you "ask" questions in a state of hypnosis, and get the answers to them. It is 100 times easier to get answers in that state, than it is in normal conscious levels using other modalities. You can get answers that the subconscious would NOT give you at normal conscious states, but it may feel it is safer to give them to you in this alpha/theta state. If the situation recur's again or you recall it again, there is no more pain. One the pain has been dealt with, it never returns even though you can recall the memories. In most cases, it is MUCH EASIER to recall memories which have formerly been suppressed, even memories which were impossible to recall previously. It is the ONLY reason that I can even speak of Korea today. For many years after returning, I suffered from PTSD I would not even tell others I had been there unless they asked specific questions. Even then I would not talk about my experiences, not even to a therapist, they were too painful. Yet, today I can discuss them with other Vets or anyone in great detail if I choose to do so, FREE from pain. Movies glorify combat, the experience can be as bad as being raped or beaten almost to death, and they happen over, and over, and over again. My unit held the record for the most consecutive (298) days in combat in Korea. Almost everyone of them had something traumatic in it. Yet, when I returned and anyone did ask me about Korea, I just told of funny things which happened or made up funny stories about it and the humor was the only thing which kept me sane. It has been my motivation for moderating the HUMOR conference for the past 6 years, humor has been proven to be healing. Old fashioned hypnosis was no more than "Positive suggestion" in an alpha and/or theta brainwave state, it was more effective than Positive suggestion without producing those brainwaves. BUT, it is like comparing kindergarten, with Grad School, to compare Old fashioned methods of hypnosis to Modern Hypnotherapy. What we call and use in hypnosis the majority of time in sessions today, is actually what was once considered "waking hypnosis." ALL CHILDREN from birth to eight years produce the same alpha and\or theta brain waves EVERY WAKING MINUTE. (From research published in British Medical Journals. English researchers have been doing extensive research long before those in the US, they accepted hypnosis as a healing modality over ten years before the AMA did.) In this state they learn very rapidly. BUT, they also record everything at a "hypnotic level of suggestability." Everything GOOD AND BAD is recorded in the brain with that impact. It is one of the major reasons which _causes_ the trauma and inability to recover later in life. The manner in which hypnotherapists use hypnosis today, might be more correctly called, de-hypnotism..... for it is used to reverse the effect of memories created IN a normal state of what we call "waking hypnosis." >> I have learned how to use completion of sentence stems very well in >> this regard as well. This helps me to gain insight into what's really going on. >> I've gained much insight into problems via this method. And then, >> developed coping strategies. > >BJ> This is NOT the same thing. It is NOT "completion of sentence stems" >BJ> but asking the subconscious or autonomic nervous system for the >BJ> message that it is trying to get thru to you. > > Completion of sentence stems helps me to get to the root of the > problem and determine what thought patterns have caused that thinking. How > is that different from "asking the subconscious or autonomic nervous > system for the message that it is trying to get through to you?" And what > procedure reveals this information? The difference is that you are not consciously attempting to complete sentances or to determine "what thought patterns cause that thinking." You go into an alpha or theta state and let the subconscious TELL you what cause the problems. The subconscious knows, we can ONLY think of one to nine things at conscious levels at the same time, subconscious levels can DO not only thousands of thing simultaneously, but millions of them. It is like or better than many of the SUPER COMPUTERS. The thought patterns that you HAVE, can be cause by an experience even in the womb. Becoming aware of the thought patterns, does not deal with or discharge the ENGRAM from the original experience. It may reduce discomfort, but it does not _always_ eliminate the pain, and hypnotherapy _always_ eliminates the pain if a client has sufficient sessions. Many find it goes in only one. Others may have a complex series of memories, and need more time to locate all of them, to reduce all their pain. As I stated above, the NUMBER of experiences that I had in Korea, could never be reduced in one session about Korea. But, working with one, two, six or sometimes more in one session, eventually I reduced most memories to what I call "analytical experiences without painful emotions." >BJ> It is evidently something that you have not been doing >BJ> or you would be agreeing with me. > > What is the thing that I've not been doing? Using your mind in the manner I am talking about to eliminate pain, if you were, nothing could remain painful, not even painful experiences which happen today. For you would use it, and remove the pain from it today. Ie, my wife was bitten in the face by a large German Shepard (135lbs). He tore with his canine teeth, thru her upper and lower lips in two places thru the lower lips, across her chin, and under it right to the bone. She was rushed into the emergency room, she was not even upset when it happened, much less so than all those in the Pet Shop who saw her and took her to the hospital. As soon as they got the dog in a cage, even holding the towel to her wounds to help stop bleeding and in the car on the way, she closed her eyes, went into hypnosis to eliminate the pain. Then used the process she had learned to eliminate the trauma from the experience. In the hospital, she informed them they did not have to use anesthesia, while they cleaned and stitched the wounds. (1 1/2 hours) She also worked using processes which we use for healing, to have it heal faster. She also worked with her feelings about HOW she was going to look after surgery, and while recovering and the scars it would leave. By the time they were thru with surgery, she asked if it would be ok to go back and finish working on the dogs that day. OF course they said no. She had to go back daily for outpatient treatment, and they were amazed there was no infection. They removed the drains, and there was still no infection. The swelling disappeared quickly, the redness disappeared quickly, and although they told he it _would_ require plastic surgery a year later unless we point out the scars, you would not notice them. When she returned to work, she had no fear or anxiety about working with any dogs, not even with German Shepards or Chows, and even most groomers are scared of them. In fact two months later she worked with the same dog. But did it alone, for she believed that the person who had been lifting the rear, lifted it incorectly and caused the dog some pain, so he spun around actually trying to bite that person. But her face was in the way as she was lifting the front up on the table. She had no problems this time with the dog. Many individuals I have worked with in sessions who had a terrible fear of all dogs, were only "nipped" as a child drawing a few drops of blood or just a scratch. BUT, the parent made such a big deal over it, and because children are in a state of "waking hypnosis" it created a traumatic ENGRAM which stayed with them for many years. --- FLAME v1.0 * Origin: For PTSD or Emotions & Physical HELP 714-525-1706 (1:10/25) @PATH: 10/25 103/501 121 3615/50 138/103 1 352/3 410
