About John Red Hat Duke... Cherokee elder and wisdom keeper, John Red Hat Duke, was a deeply spiritual man who communicated daily with the ancestors, with Creator. He was a leader of Cherokee ceremony in the ancient ways of the ancestors. Many among the Cherokee and other Native American tribes called him "Grandfather." A Grandfather in Native American terms is someone who is an esteemed spiritual leader of his people. And Red Hat was truly a great spiritual leader and teacher. He was a brilliant man who spoke nine languages. He studied Judaism under the brilliant tutelage of Rabbi Joseph Jasin, and had an excellent understanding of Eastern philosophy. The foundation of his beliefs were the Torah, and the Cherokee White Path, and he understood that these teachings were in harmony with the teachings of Jesus, of Yashua the Jew. He was a mentor of Dottie D'Aigle for over ten years, and for the last four months or so of his life he focused on teaching her essential truths and understandings so she would be able to share in his work. He was extremely hopeful that she would be able to continue his work after he rode the wind, and she promised him that she would do so to the best of her ability. A major part of Red Hat's work was the Campanile Society. He spent the last ten years of his life developing this work, and sharing these understandings with friends whom he ordained into the Society. It was a time of spiritual preparation. This work is now shared with others as an "online church without walls." Although many were against his philosophy that all Native Americans are part of one family, he continued to try to unite them in brotherhood by focusing on respect and love for one another. This oneness of all Creator's children is emphasized in the Campanile Society. The "church-like caring society" is nurtured by those he ordained into the fellowship at http://groups.msn.com/thecampanilesociety. Red Hat went to be with the ancestors on December 30th, 2003. May Creator guide his footsteps in the Great Mystery beyond. He is greatly missed!
Red Hat's Connection to Pahana
Even to this day many Full Blood Cherokee members of the Original Keetoowah Society are politically recognized as Cherokee Citizens by any federally recognized tribes.. When John Duke arrived at Oraibi many years ago, elder John Lansa and his brother Chief Mike, the Kykmongwe (village chief) of Oraibi must have looked at him pretty hard when he introduced himself as "John Red Hat." Chief Mike's family eventually adopted Red Hat as a family member. Red Hat never really thought he was True White Brother, but he decided to live his life as if he was. He wasn't perfect, was just a human, and considered being an elder "a job." He did take his role as an elder very seriously though, and learned from many different elders many different nations how elders were to behave, and he learned that elders weren't supposed to be all sweetness and light all the time -- and would even at times be required to be ruthless in order to teach properly. He lived in a time of great cynicism and unbelief which componded his problems even more. John Red Hat had many friends, and many enemies, and not much in between -- but not because he required such cut and dried relationships with people. Many Western Cherokees grew to love him and others to hate him. The Hopi prophecies had always said that Pahana would come with a Red Hat or Cloak. It is said that Pahana, "The True White Brother" would come from the east. Pahana would be of the largest nation with the color red. The Cherokee Nation is the largest Indian Nation on the Planet with 300,000 federal enrollees, with many thousands more enrolled in state recognized tribes - the vast majority of them appearing to be "white." According to Dr. Tim Jones of the University of Arizona (who holds doctorates in both Archaeology and Ethnology) now number 5 to 7 Million descendants by blood. Red Hat was named John Leslie Duke (the old family name was the Cherokee word for Duck) and was born and rasied until his early teens near Ada, Missouri, inn Douglas County. Douglas County was an old stronghold of Keetoowah Cherokees known as "Booger County" in southeast Missouri -- where many traditionalist Cherokees hid out after Chief John Ross declared all Cherokees whose Chiefs did not show up (after the Trail of Tears) at the Illinois Campground by a certain date as "Outlaws" even thought the Western Cherokees had a federally recognized separate Traditional Cherokee AniGiduhwa (Keetoowah) Government in the area since before 1817. Cherokee elder and wisdom keeper, John Red Hat Duke, passed away on December 30th, 2003. He was a great spiritual leader, a man of mystery and legend, but was he Pahana? Had Pahana of Hopi legend returned in the person of John RedHat Duke? Many believe he has, (including the late Chief Mike of Oraibi AND HIS MOTHER MINA LANSA, AND HIS FATHER JOHN LANSA - AND ALL WERE ORAIBI TRADITIONALIST VILLAGE CHIEFS) but you are invited to read the following and judge for yourself. The Hopi have awaited three people for many, many years, for centuries. Were these three people Cherokee elder Red Hat, his partner Dottie D'Aigle (The Lady in White), and an anthropologist friend? Hopefully, the following information may help to clear up some of these questions. Creator's plans often seem to be complex, multi-threaded. Were the three that the Hopi have been waiting for actually just three people, or could they also be three forces? In any case, the three are identified by symbols, and legend has it that they will help the Hopi people survive when all appears hopeless, and this will occur prior to the time of the Great Purification. These three legendary symbols are the Sun symbol, the Moha symbol (swastika), and the Red symbol. Dottie believes the Sun symbol is symbolic of Creator, the Moha symbol is symbolic of the four forces of nature which will be set in motion, air, water, earth, and fire, and the Red symbol is the Walking the Red Road spiritual path which the ancestors directed her to write. These three forces will purify humble people and the earth, and will finally bring us to a new age of peace and harmony. The following are specifics of how Red Hat's and Dottie's work, and that of their anthropologist friend may fit in with the Hopi Pahana prophecy. The prophecy is stated first, identified by the letter P, followed by how they may have fulfilled it, identified by the letter F. P: Pahana will come from the East.
F: All three of them came from the East in relation to Oraibi, AZ. P: He will bring a new religion similar to theirs. F: Walking the Red Road is a new spiritual religion similar to theirs. P: He will willingly teach the new religion. F: Dottie and John wrote teachings on each element of Walking the Red Road, and sent the booklet to the Hopi. P: Purifier, the Red Force, will weed out the wicked. F: Walking the Red Road is a spiritual path that will weed out the wicked. They will refuse to walk this road. P: He will join their faiths in one religion that would establish the truth of life in a spirit of universal brotherhood. F: Walking the Red Road is a spiritual path that can be practiced in any religion, thereby joining all major religions in spiritual brotherhood. P: Pahana will bring a book of truth. F: This may be Red Hat Speaks, which contains Walking the Red Road. P: This book of truth will be at the bottom. F: Walking the Red Road is at the end of Red Hat Speaks. P: Only the Red force will purify the Hopi people. F: If the Hopi walk the Red Road, they will be purified. (It becomes apparent that the Red force is not just a man because we know that no man can purify another.) P: Pahana has to do with the color white, and with feminine. F: John 's medicine helper of ten years, Dottie, was divinely directed in the fall of 1996 to always wear white. In June of 1998, she was directed to wear the white headdress. She was given direction for the design of the scarf, and how to wear it. It was to signify humility. In vision, her white clothing, white headdress, and she were all accepted by Creator. She was accepted as His witness. P: The Mystery Seed of one, within which are two, relating to the time of the Hopi Day of Purification. F: The ancestors directed Dottie to make a circle within which she was directed to put two six-pointed blue stars. The circle symbolizes Creator/creation, the larger blue star symbolizes the House of Israel, and the smaller blue star located in the center of the larger blue star symbolizes the Hopi people. They delivered this creation to the Chief in Oraibi and he accepted it on behalf of the Hopi people. (Actually he squealed with joy when he saw it!) These are some of the specifics which indicate Red Hat, Dottie, and their friend, may have been called by Creator to fulfill prophecies for the Hopi. One other interesting bit of trivia that further indicates Red Hat's and Dottie's possible connection with Pahana is that the Eagle clan of the Hopi help watch over the spiritual well being of the Hopi people. Dottie's last name is D'Aigle which literally means The Eagle. May we all learn to walk in the wisdom of the ancestors, and trust Creator always. |
