THE WAR PARTY OF THE SHADOW DANCERS

Red Wolf said to his father, "Running Fox, Little Snake and I are going north hunting. When Big Bar returns, tell him we will meet him in two moons, at the old mans cabin. Big Bear will know where it is". Running Fox said, "Be sure you bless the hunt and stay away from the white eyes, except for the white eye called Harrison, for he has been in the Conjuror's wild juice".

Little Snake and Red Wolf went north looking for game. They got a large valley buffalo and a few large rabbits so Red Wolf said, "Let's go on over to the old mans cabin and we will wait there for Big Bear to come". When they reached the place near where the cabin was, Red Wolf said, "Wait, Little Snake, look here, there was someone here, prints. This was not made by a white eye; this was made by an Indian. Do you think it was Big Bear?" "No", said Little Snake, "I don't think so". "Look around, Little Snake, see if you can find the back trail where they came from. See if there are any more prints". Little Snake said, "Red Wolf, it is a war party". "They are Seneca", Red Wolf said. "We must hurry, they are headed towards the old mans cabin".

So Little Snake and Red Wolf ran toward where the cabin was and when they reached the cabin, there was the old man, staked out on the ground, his spirit gone from him. Red Wolf said, "Look in the cabin, Little Snake, and see if the old woman is in there". Little Snake came back and said, "She is not there, she is no where to be found".

About that time, Big Bear came and he asked, "Who did this?" Red Wolf said, "It was the Seneca and I think they have taken the old woman with them". Little Snake returned and said, "I found the trail going north".

"Let's go, Big Bear don't you think we should tell your father?" Red Wolf replied, "We do not have time, it will take all three of us to get the old woman back".

The boys ran off, headed north after the Seneca. They came upon the Conjuror of the Horn and he said, "Where are you boys going in such a hurry?" Red Wolf said, The Seneca have taken the spirit from the old man and they have his woman. Will you join us, Conjuror?" "Yes", he said, so the four raced north after the Seneca.

They came upon the falls and Red Wolf said, "There they are, Little Snake and Big Bear, make your way around to the far side. The Conjuror and I will hit them from this side". Little Snake and Big Bear took off to the far side of the

Seneca camp. Red Wolf was studying the camp to try and place where each one of the Seneca were. When he turned around, the Conjuror had made a circle on mother earth and was sitting in the circle. Red Wolf said, "What are you doing now?" The Conjuror said, "Now I bring help". Red Wolf said, "OK, you bring help". Red Wolf was trying to keep his eyes on the Seneca but when he turned back around there were all kinds of shadow dancers. The Conjuror said, "Now we are ready" and Red Wolf said, "Ha".
